The Choirs of St John's
The Church has two principal Choirs: the Parish Choir of boys and men and the mixed Chamber Choir. Both choirs enjoy an active social life in addition to their music-making. There is also the Ranmoor Children’s Choir, run by the Church, which is a “fun” choir for girls and boys from the age of six upwards. All work involving children is covered by the Church’s Child Protection Policy. The Comic Song Quartet (consisting of four of the Choir gentlemen) can provide a full two-hour show of hilarious comedy for any occasion. The St John's Consort is a small roving group which sings services in churches throughout the diocese.
We are actively recruiting boys aged six and upwards, and gentlemen of all ages, for the Parish Choir, and adults for the Chamber Choir. If you are interested in singing with us, you can find more information by following this link.
St John’s offers four Choral Scholarships to students at either of the city's universities. At present there are two vacancies. Applications are warmly invited from Basses, Tenors and Counter-tenors. Further information is available by following this link.
